BRYANSTON HIGH COMPUTER INTEGRATED LEARNING
Over the past few years Bryanston High School has made great strides in making sure that our learners have the best technology available to them.
We have a structured capital expenditure budget for computers which ensures that every three years all the computer hardware is upgraded and improved.
We have two computer centres available to the learners with 35 and 30 PC's in each. Learners have managed access to the Internet for research and projects and have the facility to print in colour.
Learners in Grade 8 and 9 follow an IT Skills programme which involves typing skills and learning the Microsoft Office bundle of programs. Tasks are practically orientated to ensure learners have achieved the relevant learning outcomes that have been set for them.
In Grade 10 the learners who have chosen Computers as a academic subject get the opportunity to do Lego Robotics. In these lessons learners build Lego models and then write software programs in order to make their models do certain tasks.
In 2005 we introduced the first Smart Board into the one classroom. This interactive white board facilitates the education process making it more interesting and productive for the learners and teachers.
In 2006 we have installed an additional 2 boards in two other venues in the school. Staff members are being trained to prepare lessons and presentations on the interactive boards. Staff members can book the IT venues and bring their classes there for the lesson.
In addition to this we are in the process of certifying our teachers with the international computer drivers licence.(ICDL)
Our vision is to make education at Bryanston High School a fully computer integrated experience so that our learners are well prepared for the technological world.
